2019 Golden Globe Awards: Alfonso Cuaron Wins Best Director for ‘Roma’

El director Mexicano, Alfonso Cuarón won Best Director at Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony for Roma. This puts his black-and-white film as front-runner going into the Oscars.

During his acceptance speech, Cuarón thanked the real-life people who inspired Roma, including his childhood nanny Libo Rodriguez.

“In reality, this film was directed Libo, by my mother, and my family and maybe even more importantly by this place, this very complex lab that shaped and created me,” Cuarón told the audience. “So muchas gracias, Mexico.”

Roma was nominated for three Golden Globes and took home two, now the questions is how many Oscars will it win?

The 91st Academy Awards ceremony is on February 24, 2019.
