Life Advice: Cojelo Con Take It Easy

Cojelo Con Take It Easy

My abuela used to say this all the time. It was kind of her mantra. Even though she suffered from anxiety, she would remind herself to calm down because all would be well. Even when things go tits up, it usually works out for the best. This is wisdom I try to live every day. So, use it today!

Phrase: It means take it easy. Cojelo in this phrase is NOT the way it is used in some parts of Latin America, particularly Mexico, in which it means “to have sexual intercourse with”. Cojelo in this case means to take. So, not only is this phrase Spanglish, it’s also repetitive. You are saying “Take it with take it easy”. My grandmother used to say this all the time when I would get upset. Then she’d tell me to, “¡Callar me la voca, coño!

EX: ¡Oye, chico! Cojelo con take it easy, no aye necesidad de usar un hacha en esta situacion.

TR: Hey, dude! Take it with take it easy, there is no need to bring axes into the situation.

EX: Cojelo con take it easy, el autobus lleno de prostitutas viene a las tres.

TR: Take it with take it easy, the bus full of prostitutes gets here at three.
