Canelo Alvarez Defeats Gennady Golovkin

In this year’s biggest fight with the rematch of Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Glolovkin ends in heavy-duty controversy.

The stage was set with a crowd of 21,965 at T-Mobile Area on Mexican Independence day and Canelo promising this time around to go after Golovkin. The fight did not disappoint as Canelo pressured Golovkin through the fight and kept his promise of being the aggressor.

Statistically, the fight was also very close in terms of landed shots. According to CompuBox, Alvarez landed 202 of 622 punches (33 percent), and Golovkin landed 234 of 879 (27 percent). Golovkin outlanded Alvarez in eight of the 12 rounds.

After 12 rounds of a good old fashion grudge match, Canleo was awarded the win ending Golovkin’s undefeated run and his historic 160-pound title reign. Cannel was interviewed about the fight. “I showed my victory with facts. He was the one who was backing up,” Alvarez said through an interpreter. “I feel satisfied because I gave a great fight. It was a clear victory.”

Most fans expected Golovkin to win the fight but I was not surprised with the outcome as it was very close and it could have gone either way.

Now the question is, will there be a third fight between these two great fighters?
