Canelo Alvarez Suspended for Six Months

El boxeador Mexicano, Canelo Alvarez, has been suspended for six months after testing positive twice for a banned substance. This caused the mega HBO PPV rematch with unified middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin to be canceled.

Many wondered what kind of punishment Canelo would get from the Nevada State Commission. Canelo got lucky as the original sentence was for a year and now will only get 6 months. It was reduced because he has been cooperating with the Nevada State Athletic Commission during the investigation.

The suspension will count for February, the date in which he first tested positive and that means he can return to the ring by the Mexican Independence weekend.

Even though the rematch with GGG is off, there is a chance that it may still happen.
