Celebrate National Taco Day

It’s that time of the year where we celebrate National Taco Day! There is no doubt that Americans love to eat tacos as last year over 4.5 million tacos were eaten. With so many varieties of tacos we will highlight the most popular ones.

The staple of all tacos is the Taco al Pastor, which means shepherd’s style taco, is the most popular taco in Mexico. It generally consists of spiced pork, which is cut in slivers from a vertical spit over an open flame.

Tacos de Cabeza, which are the brains, tongue, eyes and lips of a cow’s head. This taco is not for the food-queasy and may seem gross perro que ricos son!

Tacos de Carne Asada, which is flank steak grilled to perfection, is the easiest to make at home and you will find it on any Mexican restaurant menu.

The fish taco is said to be born in Ensenada, Mexico. This taco is made with small pieces of battered, fried fish in a hot corn or wheat tortilla y clara you wash it down with a cold cerveza Pacifico.

Last but not least is the Taco de lengua. This classic Mexican taco is beef tongue braised with garlic and onions, finely chopped and served with salsa verde and avocados.

These are just a few of so many type of tacos you can try. I highly recommend you stay away from Taco Bell and go to a taco stand or a Mexican restaurant and enjoy a good taco.
