CVS Pharmacy y Más

The other day while I was driving to work I noticed something new and surprising, the words “y más” were added to the CVS Pharmacy sign.

The drugstore giant is rolling out nine rebranded Southern Californian stores targeting Latino shoppers with more than 1,500 new items from Mexican snacks to home remedies. There is a total of eight rebranded stores in Los Angeles County which are attempting to cater to the estimated 6 milling latinos living in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Prices also have been lowered on most products in the “Y más” stores, excluding prescriptions.

“We are trying to make sure we have the depth of assortment so we can be a one-stop shop for Latino consumers,” said Lisa Grubbs, director of strategic growth for CVS, which has a regional corporate office in La Habra.

Some of the products you can find in the “y wás” stores include dried chili peppers, spices, Fabuloso multipurpose cleaners, Suavitel liquid fabric softener, cold sodas from brands such as Jarritos and Jumex and a line of Bimbo sugary and savory snacks.

Is this a smart move for CVS Pharmacy and will they actually get more Latino customers into the stores?
