Despacito Banned in Malaysia

Malaysia has banned the hit song “Despacito” from state radio and TV channels. After receiving numerous complaints from the public about the lyrics officials at state-owned broadcaster RTM stopped playing the song.

“The song was filled with numerous sexual references and innuendos and thus wholly inappropriate to be aired by our national media outlets for our general public, especially children,” said the communications minister.

This ban caused a frenzy on social media as a lot of fans left there opinions on the issue. A Twitter user wrote, “90% of the people here don’t even understand the lyrics. ”  If this is true the ban does not seem to make any sense pero bueno. Streaming services and private radio companies are still allowed to play the song for now. The funny thing is that the Justin Bieber version apparently is not banned.
