Disney’s Princess Elena Gets Animated Disney Channel series

Since 1937 when Snow White first appeared as the first princess Disney has gradually expanded its princesses to different ethnic background from Asian, African-American, Native American and Middle Eastern, pero donde está la princesa para los latinos? Prepare to curtsy que ahi viene Elena! The Disney Channel just debuted an animated series called Elena of Avalor. Pero de qué se trata? Well Elena is a girl who must mature enough to claim her rightful title as queen. Like most animated series Elena has a circle of family and friends including her younger sister, Princess Isabel, her grandparents Francisco and Luisa, Mateo who is a wizard in training and Naomi who eventually befriends Elena.

As part of the marketing plan, Disney will be selling lots of merchandise including dolls, accessories, apparel, an upcoming record and DVD. Elena’s character will also be part of Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort this summer and California’s Disneyland Resort this fall. Parece que si estan apoyando este proyecto.

A spokesman from the National Council of La Raza spoke about this new series. “It’s long overdue for Disney to have a Latino princess,” said Lisa Navarrete, spokeswoman for the National Council of La Raza. “Even if it’s not the highest priority for a civil rights organization, it’s important for little girls to see themselves on screen.” Should have Disney created a animated movie instead of a 26 episode animated series? Regardless Its great to see a latina princess finally get her very own animated series.
