Donald Trump Implies That Latino Undocumented Immigrants Are ‘Animals’

President Donald Trump is at it again. At a meeting in which he was railing against the sanctuary city status of several cities in California, he again made the correlation between all undocumented immigrants and the dangerous Salvadorean gang MS-13. He and his spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders were quick to say that he was only talking about MS-13 when he called them ‘animals’…but it sure didn’t sound like that. He said,

“You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. They’re not people. They’re animals.”

He was specifically talking about the sanctuary city status of California cities and did not specify that he was solely talking about MS-13. It once again sounded as if he was saying all undocumented immigrants were criminals. Lest we forget that he launched his campaign for the presidency by saying that Mexicans were rapists and murderers. He also campaigned largely on building a wall along the Mexican border to keep out people from Latin America. In Donald Trump’s mind we are all less than…we’re animals.

I am in no way defending Ms-13 who is a vile criminal organization that has brought violence and chaos across much of Latin America and the U.S. They shouldn’t be let into the country, obviously. What bothers me is that his rhetoric draws a parallel between all immigrants and Ms-13. It couldn’t be clearer the contempt he has for us.
