The Movie “Instructions Not Included” Did It Again


The Mexican Movie No se aceptan devoluciones (Instructions Not Included), directed by and starting Eugenio Derbez, makes history by selling 250 million DVD and Blu Ray copies during its release. A typical good release falls in the range of 70 million copies. The movie also had great success in Internet sales, in less then six hours the movie was in the top twelve most downloaded movies. Marta Pallares, representative of Casete México, stated “this is great history for the digital platform especially for a Mexican movie”. To date, 25 million people in Mexico, the U.S, and some Latin American countries have gone to the movies to see this film. This number will soon grow with the recent release in Europe and the rest of Latin America. It is scheduled to be released in Central America followed by Chile, Spain, and Italy. Before No se aceptan devoluciones, the Mexican movie with most movie ticket sales in the U.S was Como Agua para Chocolate, 1992.
