Former MLB Pitcher Esteban Loaiza Arrested On Drug Charges

Former MLB pitcher Esteban Loaiza and former husband to Jenni Rivera was arrested Friday in San Diego California and charged with three drug-related felonies, including possession of more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of cocaine with a street value of $500,000. He is also charged with purchase for sale of a controlled substance, and transportation/sell of narcotics or a controlled substance. His bail was set to $200,000 but the judge raised it to $250,000 after prosecutors argued the Mexican pitcher poses a flight risk.

Louisa has denied that he is a cocaine dealer and pleaded not guilty. If convicted he could face up to 20 years in prison.

As the second-winningest pitcher from Mexico in MLB history, Loaiza spent 14-years in the MLB and was a two-time all-star. Hopefully these charges are not true but it does not look good for the pitcher.
