Fujifilm Finepix Z70 Review

We’ll start off by stating the obvious: the Fujifilm Finepix Z70 isn’t the kind of camera you would use to take award-winning photography. If, however, you’re looking for a good click-and-shoot device, this is the camera for you.

First, the specs. The Finepix Z70 is a 12-megapixel camera with a 5x periscopic optimal zoom lens which gives you a pretty solid range. It is also equipped to capture 720p HD video (more on this later). As far as design goes, the Z70 is incredibly compact and inconspicuous. At just 18.1 millimeters (7/10ths of an inch) thick, it fit perfectly in our jean pocket. The camera is so thin and unobtrusive that we would often confuse it for our cell phone whenever we would bring the camera with us.

Our only gripe with the specific camera we were sent was how bright blue it was. That’s just a personal preference, however. If attention-grabbing colors (like silver blue or berry red) aren’t your thing, the Finepix Z70 also comes in a much more understated black.

Now, on to the video: we dig it. So did our friends, at least the one who thought it would be a brilliant idea to film us sing the final notes of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” at karaoke. Watch us make a complete ass of ourselves in front of a crowd:

The best part of the Fujifilm Finepix Z70 isn’t it’s video or photographic qualities, however. Our favorite thing about this point and shoot camera is its social media capabilities. The device features an “easy web upload” button that lets you tag pictures and videos you want to upload to Facebook and YouTube and does it for you. This is especially convenient for someone like us, who tend to leave photographs on a memory card for months on end because we’re too lazy to filter through them.

So, to recap, if you’re looking for an affordable point and shoot camera that’s loaded with cool features and is easy to carry around, you could do a whole lot worse than the Fujifilm Finepix Z70.
