Leonardo DiCaprio Gets Mexican President To Save La Vaquita.

Leonardo DiCaprio just flexed his star power to issue a plea on Twitter with the World Wildlife Fund to save the world’s rarest porpoise, also know as vaquita, from extinction. Mexico’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto, responded to the actor’s Tweet saying Mexico is focusing all efforts to prevent the extinction of the species.

La vaquita only lives in a small region in the Gulf of California. In the past year the population of this rare porpoise has plummeted from about 60 to just 30.

Scientist proposed a dramatic plan to capture and breed several vaquitas in order to stop their extinction. The only problem is that no one has ever caught a vaquita alive.

Hopefully they can save las vaquitas and increase the population.
