Lin-Manuel Miranda Leaves “Hamilton” Cast

After a run that will surely go down in Broadway history, Lin-Manuel Miranda did his final performance of Hamilton Saturday night. He wrote and starred in the multiple Tony Award winning hip-hop musical about founding father Alexander Hamilton during its year and a half on Broadway. Miranda finished off the night by cutting off his signature Hamilton long hair as a way of saying goodbye to the role which may be what he is most remembered for doing. His co-stars Leslie Odom, Jr. who played Aaron Burr and Phillipa Soo who portrayed his wife Eliza also had their last performance Saturday.

It will be interesting to see now that he is gone what will happen to the show. It is currently sold out a year in advance and tickets go for thousands of dollars each online. Javier Muñoz is taking over the role starting this week. It’s not that he won’t be good, but there is nothing like seeing the original, the man who literally made and defined the part. Miranda has become a household name and he is definitely a draw. I wonder if I can finally go see the show now that he’s gone?
