Metallica Play “Enter Sandman” Live To Honor Mariano Rivera

The great Mariano Rivera was honored this week at Yankees stadium for his many years of being a badass with a special performance by Metallica. It was Mariano Rivera day at the stadium on Sunday and fans and old farts like Bernie Williams were on hand to give homage. They came to pay tribute to Mariano, who was playing his last game before he retires to become a preacher or something. Metallica was there to play Mariano’s signature song “Enter Sandman” on special Yankee pinstripe instruments. Mariano Rivera is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame being one of the greatest closers in the history of baseball and it’s sad to see the old man go.

It doesn’t matter whether you love the Yankees or hate them, there is no denying Mariano’s talent. Not only was he damn near unstoppable in his prime, he’s also a class act of a guy. He spends a lot of his off-season time mentoring kids and working with charities. You never heard any controversies about doping, sex, or violence about him either. Mariano is the type of player that is all too rare these days: one you can feel proud to have your kids look up to.
