Narco Tunnel Discovered Under KFC

Another Narco tunnel has been discovered and this time in an unlikely place, under the fast-food restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The first thing that may come to your mind is Los Pollos Hermanos from the Breaking Bad TV series. The fictional fast-food chain was owned by Gustavo Fring, a prominent methamphetamine distributor in the Southwestern United States who used his chicken business for money-laundering and logistics for his illegal activities.

The abandoned KFC had a tunnel measures 590 feet in length, five feet in height and three feet in width and is believed to be linked to the Sinaloa cartel.

Authorities discovered the tunnel after arresting Iván López, a resident of Yuma and the current owner of the building. He had been seen loading up bins from the building into a trailer and was later pulled over and detained.

In the containers Lopez had loaded into the trailer, agents found 168 kilograms (almost 373 pounds) of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine valued at more than $1 million.

According to reports, the tunnel was built this summer and it ends at a top door underneath a bed at a home in Mexico just 200 feet from the US border.
