Nominees for Best Motion Picture of the Year


One of the nominees for best motion picture of the year was American Hustle which movie plot was based in the 70’s where a pair of con men who are forced to cooperate with the FBI in a complicated case which than appear involved with some members of the American Congress.

Captain Phillips is based on a true story where the freighter Maersk Alabama was kidnapped in 2009 by Somali pirates. It focuses on the relationship established between the commanding officer of the Alabama, captain Richard Phillips, starring Tom Hanks, and the head of the Somali band, Muse (Barkhad Abdi).

Another great movie we have a Dallas Buyers Club that tells the story of Ron Woodroof, a cowboy which is diagnosed HIV positive. With little time of life, Ron is dedicated to smuggle drugs, who founded a buyers club in which, in exchange for a monthly fee, people who are HIV-positive gain access to the supplies that you will not find in the hospitals.

In Gravity, Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, who is on her first mission to space, accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, starring George Clooney. But during a routine mission a accident occurs, leaving Dr. Stone and Kowalsky alone in space.

In the science fiction film Her we see the relationship between Theodore, starring Joaquin Phoenix, and an operating system designed to meet all the needs of the user.

In Nebraska we see the relationship between an elderly father with symptoms of dementia, who believes that he is millionaire when he received an award by mail, he sends his son David, who is forced to make the trip to go to collect the famous prize.

In Philomena, tells the true story of Philomena Lee, an Irish woman who after becoming pregnant as a teenager, was forced to give her child for adoption. For fifty years she tries to find him.

In 12 years to Slave story develops in years prior to the Civil War, where we see the history of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man who lives in New York, is kidnapped and sold to slavery. For twelve years he strives to continue living, preserving his dignity in the face of the cruelty of his master (Michael Fassbender) and not lose hope.

At last, we have the Wolf of Wall Street directed by Martin Scorsese. This story is based on real events from the new york stock broker Jordan Belfort, starting as the American dream, until he reached the corporate greed at the end of the eighties, Belfort passes from the speculative activities and the honesty  to corruption. Its tremendous success and fortune when he was more than twenty years as the founder of the stock agency Belfort earned him the nickname of the Wolf of Wall Street.
