Pixar’s “Coco” Looks Like A Latino Animated Treat

The trailer for Pixar’s new film Coco has been released and it is Dia de Los Muertosriffic. It tells the tale of young Miguel, a boy who loves music in a family that has banned it for generations. The movie will star Anthony Gonzalez as Miguel, Benjamin Bratt as Ernesto de la Cruz, Gael García Bernal as  Hector and Renée Victor as Miguel’s grandmother. At least it has a Latino cast and doesn’t have a bunch of White folks talking in a Mexican accent.

Hollywood has long been fascinated by Dia de los Muertos. It seems that every time that an American ventures to Mexico in an American movie it is during Dia de los Muertos. What’s that about? Probably it has to do with the fact that it is the only Mexican holiday Americans know.
