Born in 1934 in Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico, Aguirre got his first break in radio then moved on to television playing small parts. Eventually he would land the role that would define his career when he joined the TV show El Chavo del Ocho and played “El Profesor Jirafales”. Aguirre’s character gave the show its sentimental heart with the on-air romance with Doña Florinda. His signature expression “ta-ta-ta” became a classic with Latino popular culture.
