Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For Trailer Finally Released

I saw the original Sin City in the theater, which was great because I got to watch disgusted moviegoers get up and leave as the carnage unfolded on the screen. Hey, the movie wasn’t for everyone. If you could get past the ultra-violence of the original Sin City, you were rewarded with a movie that was drenched in style and genre. Roger Ebert gave it four stars, calling it, “a comic book brought to life and pumped with steroids.” Sin City really was eye candy – and not just because of the gun wielding, oversexed women. The movie was a co-directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s, guys who are known for combining hyper-real violence with beautiful computer generated backdrops. The result was a kind of movie that has been often imitated, but never duplicated. That is until now. Well, not now. The sequel, Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For won’t be released until August 22. But here’s the trailer!

Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez are co-directing again, because, well, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Frank Miller, who wrote the original graphic novels, is a great story teller. But when it comes to directing, Miller isn’t the best on his own. He directed The Spirit, which copied the style of Sin City, but was pretty awful. It has a 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That said, I’m excited about the sequel. Sin City 2 looks very similar to the first movie, but that’s to be expected. The first movie had such a distinct look that the sequel will draw inevitable comparisons. Whether or not those comparisons are fair or not remains to be seen.
