Rides You Wish You Had: I-Tec’s The Maverick, aka The Flying Car

A flying car that has FAA certification? Yup, that just happened. Check out the Maverick, a road/air vehicle hybrid from non-profit company I-TEC. The car is the brainchild of Steen Saint, a missionary who created this bad boy to help out the indigenous Ecuadorian tribes of the Waodani Indians.

The Maverick is powered by a 250-horsepower Subaru engine that goes from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds. It uses a giant rear propeller and a parachute to get airborne. Right now, Saint and I-Tec are working on mass producing The Maverick and sell it for about $80,000.
