This Week On Being Latino: Baseball In Arizona & Latinos In Disaster Movies

Being Latino, the largest Latino community on Facebook, is a communication platform designed to educate and connect all peoples across the global Latino spectrum. They also have a fascinating online magazine. Every week, we’ll be featuring several stories we feel you should read.

1) The 2011 MLB season is right around the corner. That’s right, folks. Beisbol, for all intents and purposes, is no longer just “America’s pastime” but the hobby of every Latin American country. That’s why Ryan Almodovar’s post on the implications of having the 2011 All-Star game in Arizona is well worth a read.

2) On a lighter note, Eric Cortes brings up a very interesting point in “Latinos Don’t Exist In Disaster Movies.” Cortes points out that most disaster flicks are centered in New York City. Hey, Hollywood. You know who lives in NYC? A lot of Latinos. Oh yeah, and that whole “world is ending in 2012”? Yeah, that was us too. How’s about you give us a little rep, eh?
