Being Latino, the largest Latino community on Facebook, is a communication platform designed to educate and connect all peoples across the global Latino spectrum. They also have a fascinating online magazine. Every week, we’ll be featuring several stories we feel you should read.
Today’s selection of stories from our friends over at Being Latino are two sides of the same coin. The first, written by Brian Cockman, is the tale of a white guy from the South that discovers his love for Latin American culture later in life. You know how you have that white friend who just LOVES all things Latino? Yeah, this is how they came to be that way.
On the flip side, we have the too-true story of how growing up Latino in America can prove to be a great challenge. In her post, Cindy Tovar talks of how certain things other kids take for granted (eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, for example) can prove to be quite the revelation for Latino kids.
