This Week On “Being Latino”: Miami Marlins Are Becoming A Latino Franchise

Being Latino, the largest Latino community on Facebook, is a communication platform designed to educate and connect all peoples across the global Latino spectrum. They also have a fascinating online magazine. Every week, we’ll be featuring a story we feel you should read.

The Miami Marlins may have lost the Albert Pujols sweepstakes to the Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim, but the Florida has been winning big in a lot of different ways. For starters, they signed three-time all-star Jose Reyes. Beyond their free agent signings, however, the Marlins are making big splashes elsewhere. Being Latino staff writer Ryan Almodovar argues that the team is making a concerted effort in becoming a Latino franchise. Quite frankly, given how many professional baseball players are Latino, this is a long time coming.
