This Week On Being Latino: Defending Colombiana

Being Latino, the largest Latino community on Facebook, is a communication platform designed to educate and connect all peoples across the global Latino spectrum. They also have a fascinating online magazine. Every week, we’ll be featuring a story we feel you should read.

Colombiana, an action filmed produced by Luc Besson (of The Professional and Fifth Element fame) and starring Zoe Saldaña, caught a lot of flack from the Latino community because of its characterization of Colombians. Imagine our surprise when we came across not one, but two defenses of the movie on the pages of Being Latino online magazine. We might not agree with their overall conclusion of the film (we thought it was longer than it needed to be and lacked some serious action scenes), we think their arguments are very valid. cHECK THEM OUT.
