This Week On “Being Latino”: Uruguay Number One In The World & Remembering 9/11

Being Latino, the largest Latino community on Facebook, is a communication platform designed to educate and connect all peoples across the global Latino spectrum. They also have a fascinating online magazine. Every week, we’ll be featuring stories we feel you should read.

Earlier this week, FIFA unveiled their monthly ranking. The top team from Latin America? Nope, not Brazil or Argentina. It’s 2011 Copa America winner Uruguay. It may come as a shock to many of you but the small South American nation has historically been a soccer powerhouse. In his Being Latino post, Cristopher Rubio explains how a nation of just 3.5 million people constantly fields a top tier soccer squad.

Moving on to a more somber and serious topic, next month is the ten-year anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack. As a tribute to those lost in the horrible events that transpired that day, Being Latino wants you to share your story.
