Tu Vez Spanglish Dictionary Word Of The Day: Filin

Noun: A bastardized version of the English word feeling filtered through your grandmother’s accent. In the 1960’s, there was a saccharine music style throughout the Hispanic world called filin based on sappy 60’s American pop. It has the same definition as feeling, meaning a sensation or emotion. How can you be filin something if filin isn’t a word?

EX: “Tengo un Mal Filin por esto,” Dijo Han Solo.

TR: “I have a bad feeling about this,” said Han Solo.

EX: Cuando dices que yo soy un transvestita feo, me lastimas los filins.

TR: When you say I am ugly as a transvestite, it hurts my feelings.
