Tu Vez Spanglish Dictionary Word Of The Day: Hapi News Jeers

Hapi News Jeers

Expression: The traditional holiday wish of Happy New Year pronounced with a heavy Spanish accent. First of all, the proper thing to say is Feliz Año Nuevo or Prospero Año Nuevo. There’s even a Jose Feliciano song about it.  Secondly, why would you want to wish someone “Jeer”? That means “Boo!” You should wish someone a “Yeah!” It’s important to be positive.

EX: “¡Hapi News Jeers! ¿Quien Quiere quitarse la ropa?”

TR: “Happy New Year! Who wants to get naked?”

EX: “Yo voy a tener un Hapi News Jeers. Compre $1000 en boletos de loteria. ¡Voy a ganar! ¿Verdad?”

TR: “I’m going to have a Happy New Year. I bought $1000 in lottery tickets. I’m gonna win! Right?”
