Adidas Puts Out Ad Pimping Out Lionel Messi’s Ballon d’Or

Athletic wear giant Adidas put out a new ad where they congratulate Lionel Messi for winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or and brag about being his sponsor in the process. The minute-long ad– done in Spanish and in that cutesy cardboard cut-out animation– chronicles how Messi beat out 249,000,000 other soccer players to be the best in the world. Along the way, Adidas takes an opportunity to mock Nike and their star player Cristiano Ronaldo by calling him a fashion model and then having Messi blow past him as he scores a game winning goal. Can you blame them, though? Cristiano Ronaldo is so ridiculous, and he is kind of a fashion model, that he’s practically begging to be mocked.
