Who knew that Beethoven was such a huge fan of Tito Puente? At least that’s what the Hovedøen Social Club & Kringkastingsorkesteret (don’t even try to pronounce it) would lead you to believe with this salsa interpretation of his 5th symphony. A Norwegian orchestra playing a German composer’s work in a Cuban genre of music? That’s globalism for you, folks!

People always have to see the negative in this and becuase they are uneducated they relate Salsa music to Mexico, which again brings out even more ignorant comments.
Actually, pronouncing Kringkastingsorkesteret is easy! Being Norwegian probably helps, though
Cool experiment and it shows that we have not seen the last of the old masters yet!
Increíble. :O esto si es música.
Great work!
Wow…how beautiful. What a wonderful twist on a classic. I hope I get to dance to it. It never ceases to amaze me how people can be so closed minded, particularly when it comes to the arts. This is wonderful.
Thank you for sharing.
I think think it is a wonderful interpretation and that Beethoven would be proud!!
Hey Guys,
Being an avid salsa fan, the video and comments made me chuckle. Yes salsa is global, I was reminded me of Orquesta la Luz, a Japanese band playing pretty good salsa. Check them out!
Salsa Celtica’s synthesis of Afro Latin Salsa with Scottish and Irish traditional music has taken them and their music all over the world from the village halls of Scotland to some of the most important music festivals around the globe.
