Cartoon Fails! Captain Planet

The Nineties was the best of times and the worst of times for cartoons. For every “Ren and Stimpy”, “Rugrats”, or “Rocko’s Modern Life” there was a “Cat/Dog”, “The Head”, or “Garfield and Friends”. The very worst was “Captain Planet and the Planeteers”. The environmental message was so heavy handed, you were punch drunk from them hitting you over the head with it by the time it was over. Captain Planet himself was sort of a wuss. We wouldn’t be afraid of him. We would throw down a non-biodegradable Styrofoam container right in front of his stupid gelled green Jersey shore hair and blue face and dare him to start something. Equally obnoxious was the standard multi-ethnic group of annoying teens. At least we Latinos were represented by Ma-Ti, though he was given the lame power of “Heart”. In this original cartoon by our bosses at Break, you see what happens when Latinos aren’t invited to the party. Bad things.
