Exercise In Ineptitude: Real Betis’ Players Hit Post Instead Of Net

Hitting the crossbar/post is straight up unfortunate. Doing it three times within seconds? That’s a remarkable display of failure. That’s what happened this weekend at the La Liga match between Real Betis and Mallorca. The former squad (there’s nothing “royal” about them) were the non-scoring offenders in this situation.

Late in the first half, Real Betis’ Ruben Castro blasted from afar that hit the far post (that’s one). The ball then bounced in front of teammate Jorge Molina who headed into the crossbar. The ball came back to him, and for the final coup de un-grâce, he kicked it to the same place he had headed it before: the crossbar.

Luckily for Real Betis, Ruben Castro scored the game’s only goal in the 86th minute, so he managed to save some face. Molina, on the other hand, is a lost cause.
