Cola maker Pepsi is trying a new strategy in Mexico to sell its product. They are launching a series of ads rebranding their product as “Pecsi.” As the clever ad–featuring none other than Mexican soccer great Cuauhtemoc Blanco– states, about a third of the people in the Central American country have a hard time pronouncing “Pepsi.” Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time Pepsico has embraced this marketing strategy in Latin America. Back in 2009, the soda maker advertised itself as “Pecsi” in Argentina to much success. They are trying to do the same in Mexico. Not sure about you guys, but we kind of dig the fact that Pepsico doesn’t take itself too seriously to change their name like this.
