This Is How You Announce A Basketball Game
We have to give credit where credit is due. This video came our way courtesy of the good folks over at Made Man and their Facebook page. The video, whose highlight is the guy announcing the game, is not from the season. The game is from last year, when the Miami Heat (who didn’t feature LeBron James at the time) played against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staple Center. Kobe Bryant drains the game-winning three, causing the Spanish announcer to lose his stuff completely. Our boys from Made Man described the commentator as “the Spanish Gus Johnson.” Nice compliment. Only problem is that EVERY Spanish announcer (particularly for futbol), is a Spanish-speaking version of Gus Johnson.

Guy was called Andres Montes, Spain best basketball commentator. He did NBA games back in the day when nobody watched in Spain, it was like a pioneer. Thanks to him, many of us started watching the NBA, and also thanks to his hilarious nicknames for almost every player. A couple of years ago he switched to soccer commentary, though it was clearly not his field.
Unfortunately he died last year and it was a big sock to the Spanish Sport Community. Guys like Gasol, Calderon or Rudy where close friends and really appreciated him. Very likeable guy.
