Vicente Fernandez Announces He Is Retiring

It’s a sad day for fans of rancheras and badassery. Vicente Fernandez has announced that he will be retiring after 45 years of performing. He will launch one last tour of The U.S., Mexico, Central and South America, and Spain this year. If you’ve never seen this titan of Mexican music live, this is your last chance. Vicente released more than 50 albums, but claims he still has about 300 songs recorded. Let that sink in. He also starred in dozens of movies in the 60’s and 70’s that your grandma probably still watches on Univision on Sunday afternoons.

In honor of this living legend, we’re going to post this video of him singing one of his greatest hits, “El Rey”. If his voice doesn’t make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you are dead inside.
