When we were kids, we used to get in trouble for playing Star Wars in school. Teachers didn’t appreciate us drawing space battles in our trapper keepers or when we would have mock lightsaber duels on the playground. Finally, there is a school that appreciates that Star Wars should be part of a well rounded curriculum.
The Jedi Temple in Quilpué, Chile, is a school dedicated to teaching young padawans the ways of the Force. Along with boring subjects like reading and math, the kids learn yoga, tae-kwon-do, and lightsaber technique. Each kid is given their own replica lightsaber, the weapon of a Jedi knight. The school instructs the kids to be real world Jedi. Wisdom, serenity, nobility, and the do or do not attitude are all part of the lessons. Chile is a country that has seen its fair share of the Dark Side. Pinochet was as close as you can get to an Emperor Palpatine. Hopefully, these guardians of the Chilean republic will defend it from ever happening again.
