¡Histórico! Chile Beats Spain In Day 7

A historic day for Chile as they eliminate the defending World Cup Champions, Spain.

At the 20 minute mark, Chile scored the first goal with the combination of Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez and Charles Aranguiz before Eduardo Vargas scores. It seems that Spain’s defense did not know what hit them. Just before the half, Spain’s hopes of a comeback was worsened as Iker Casillas failed to handle a free kick and allowing Charles Aranguiz to score the game’s second goal.

Spain, with more urgency, seemed to start the second half with a golden opportunity to get back in the game but they just could not control the game that gave then success in the past World Cup. Chile did not let up and finished the game strong eliminating the defending champions.

This is the first victory for the sudamericanos in this legendary stadium. Yesterday we saw Mexico go toe to toe with Brazil and tie, now the defending World Cup champion, Spain, has fallen to Chile.

Latin American teams are showing the world that they are a force to deal with. Spain and Australia both failed to win a game and now both have been eliminated from the World Cup. Chile and Netherlands will meet in Sao Paulo on Monday to determine who will advance as the group winners.
