Diego Luna Directs Touching Immigration Commercial

Jarritos is the best soda on the planet and that is an undisputed fact. When I was a little kid in Mexico and later when I moved to Texas, Jarritos always satisfied. But now they’ve gotten serious with a touching commercial directed by Diego Luna. In it he documents the struggle of the immigrant, whether a recent undocumented migrant from Mexico or part of the European migration of the early part of the 20th century. The truth is that in the end both journeys were the same. People looking for a better life, for hope.

As Latinos living in the U.S. most of us either made that journey ourselves or have very close family who did. It changes people, hopefully for the better. Each immigration story is unique but in the end it is all about hope. Hope that if they come to America they can have the best life for them and their children. It turns out well for some and not so well for others. But that hope is a precious thing. My own family came here escaping political persecution while others come for better economic opportunities. Whatever the reason, if America is anything at all, it is supposed to be about self-determination. Whether that’s true or not is up for debate.
