Farrah Fawcett’s Red Bathing Suit Is Going To The Smithsonian

Abe Lincoln’s hat, Grant’s desk, and the Wright brother’s plane are all national treasures, and can be seen at the Smithsonian Museum in DC. A cultural artifact of even greater significance has been added to the collection: Farrah Fawcett’s red bathing suit.

Farrah wore the red suit in an iconic photo, that became one of the most popular posters of all time. In 1976 alone the poster sold more than 12 million copies. The suit was donated by her longtime boyfriend Ryan O’Neal. The world lost this all time hottie in 2009 to cancer.

Most of our dads went through puberty the moment they saw her in this suit. We remember seeing her on Charlie’s Angels as toddlers and thinking, “Yup. We like girls.” The Smithsonian should open a wing dedicated to great American babes. It would increase ticket sales ten fold. Think about it, would you rather see Marilyn Monroe’s bra or the first UNIVAC Computer? If you answered, the computer, you need to spend less time on the Internet.

So, thanks Farrah Fawcett’s red swimsuit for turning us all into men.
