Former Taco Bell Employee Fired For Hiring Latinos

In what can only be described as the most ironic case in the history of American jurisprudence, a former Taco Bell manager is suing the company for back wages and damages after they fired her for…wait for it…hiring Latinos. To work. At Taco Bell. Juanita O’Connell alleges that she was terminated from her position as manager at an Indianapolis Taco Bell due to a discriminatory hiring policy. Allegedly, a superior saw a new Latino worker and told O’Connell, “Didn’t I tell you not to hire Hispanics?” So, obviously the question of hiring Latinos had come up before. O’Connell’s attorney said,

“My client was working at one of the Taco Bell stores here in Indianapolis and her area coach basically came up to her and told her she needed to quit hiring Latinos. And she continued to hire Latinos, because she thought that was discriminatory.”

If true then it shows  an openly discriminatory hiring policy on the part of Taco Bell, at least for that part of the country. Taco Bell has long been the butt of jokes due to it being about as authentically Mexican as the Mexican Pizza they serve. It’s one thing to appropriate a culture and exploit it for financial gain. That’s the American way. But when you start restricting who can work at your establishment based on ethnicity you are just being a racist pendejo.
