Gravity Wins Big at The Oscars

The movie Gravity is the big winner at the 2014 Academy Awards taking 7 Oscars for visual effects, sound mixing, sound editing, cinematography, film editing, original score and best director. This is a big achievement for the Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron, who won for best director and film editing.

Gravity, stars Sandra Bullock playing the role of Dr,. Ryan Stone who is in her first mission in space, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, starring George Clooney.

During a routine mission in space, disaster strikes leaving Dr. Stone and Kowalsky alone in space trying to find a way back to Earth.

Although Gravity didn’t win for best picture it was a great night for Mexico, where we saw Alfonso Cuaron win for Best Director, and fellow Mexican Emmanuel Lubezki win for Best Cinematography for Gravity. It is great to see that Mexico’s talent is making an impact in Hollywood with the recent box office success of Instructions Not Included and now with this great achievement by Alfonso Cuaron and Emmanuel Lubezki, things are looking bright for Latinos.
