Guillermo del Toro ‘Pinocchio’ for Netflix

Guillermo del Toro is set to make his animated featured film directing debut. Netflix has giving the green light for the film “Pinocchio,” a stop motion musical version of the classic children’s tale about a puppet who wants to be a real live boy.

The film will be set in Italy during the 1930s, a time when fascism was on the rise and Benito Mussolini was consolidating control of the country. Orale, sounds like this will not be your typical Disney movie.

This is not his first film set in a totalitarian backdrop, previous films include Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth. Sounds like this movie is going to be a dark musical animated film that is not meant for kids, and I can’t wait to see it.
