Messi Is No Maradona As Argentina Loses World Cup Final

Tens of thousands of Argentinians had flooded Rio hoping to see Messi inspire his team to their third World Cup win. This was Messi’s chance to put himself on par with the legend, Diego Maradona.

But unlike in 1986, when Maradona helped Argentina win the World Cup by beating Germany. When the game looked like it was going to be decided in a penalty shootout, Mario Gotze chested down Andre Schurrle’s cross and drove the winning goal into the net. The celebration begins as Germany wins the 2014 World Cup. This is the first time a European team wins the World Cup in Latin American soil. It will take a while for Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Rodrigo Palacio to forget this defeat.

During the trophy presentation you could see Mexican fans in the stands waving a Mexican Flag. Could this be a sign that Mexico will comeback stronger then ever in the 2018 World Cup.
