Naya Rivera Says Daily Bathing Is “A White Person Thing”

“Glee” star Naya Rivera stirred up a storm on social media after she made the claim on The View that showering every day was something only White people do. The hosts were discussing Nicolle Wallace’s bathing habits for some reason when Naya suggested that people of color, (who she weirdly called “ethnics”), don’t shower every day. She said,

“I believe white people shower more than ethnics. I shower every three days. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing. I am married to a white man (Ryan Dorsey) and he showers all the time, like two to three times a day, and I’m always like ‘what are you doing?’”

This inspired a thousand Tweets from Latinos that were offended by the idea that we don’t shower every day. I do think that it is true that Americans in general bathe more than people in other countries but I’m not sure it’s only a White person thing. The reality is that in a lot of developing countries they have to conserve clean water for drinking and do not waste it on bathing every day. I know my mother bathes twice a day and I know many Latinos who share that over-clean habit. I just think some people is nasty and Naya is obviously one of them.
