The Tony Romo Hate Continues: Chris Cooley Edition

The anti-Tony Romo tirades continue days after the Dallas Cowboys quarterback threw three backbreaking interceptions (two of which were returned for touchdowns) against the Detroit Lions. Who’s flinging the monkey poop this time around? Washington Redskins’ Chris Cooley.

Speaking on The Lavar Arrington Show With Chad Dukes, a regional sports show, the tight end turned fullback said the following about the Cowboys QB:

“I’m just saying, I’m up 24 points in the third quarter, if I’m the head coach, I feel like I could probably just take a knee for the rest of the game, punt it away and there’s no way that Detroit’s gonna drive on you that many times. The only way you’re gonna give up that many points is turnovers, right? It’s hilarious to watch him throw pick sixes, too, back-to-back. I loved it.”

Cooley conveniently forgot to mention in his schadenfreudtastic charade that his Washington Redskins lost to the Cowboys 18-16 in week 3.

Predictably, some Cowboys fan are jumping on the Romo hate. Earlier this week, Deadspin posted this video of a father-son duo burning a Tony Romo jersey:

Cut the crap, Cowboys fans. Whatever happened to sticking with your team through thick and thin? Here’s the deal: The Dallas Cowboys are better off with Tony Romo at the helm than without him. Need I remind you of the Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, and Drew Bledsoe eras?
