Tu Vez Spanglish Dictionary Word Of The Day: Hangow

Verb: This is the English word hangout stuffed through your grandmother’s accent. Hanging out is the favorite activity of teenagers in countries where they aren’t working 20 hours a day in a sweatshop. As American culture has spread all over the world, teens throughout Latin America now “hangow” with their friends at “el mall” or whatever. You will sometimes see anti-loitering signs outside of stores that read, “No hangow aqui.” No hangow, indeed.

EX: “Oye, Sancho. ¿Tu quieres hangow enfrente de la escuala primaria? Yo se que es contra to condicional.”

TR: “Hey, Sancho. Do you want to hangout outside the elementary school? I know it violates your probation.”

EX: “Mama, no te procupes. Vamos a ir a hangow en la casa de una ganga de motocyclistas.”

TR: “Mom, don’t worry. We’re just going to hangout at the house of a biker gang.”
