Riot Breaks Out At Serbia-Italy Match

The Euro 2012 qualifying match between Serbia and Italy was called off after a group of angry right-wing Serbian hooligans wearing scary-looking black ski masks started cutting away at mesh fences, straddled plexiglass dividers, and started throwing flares on to the pitch. You see, folks. The match was called immediately after it started.

Some are speculating that the angry fans took to near-violence in response to the Serbian government’s offer to protect a gay pride parade in the capital city of Belgrade. Others think that the hooligans are upset about the national team’s recent bad performance. Whatever the case may be, violence and intimidation have no place in the sport.

You see, folks. This is exactly why Europe can’t have nice things.
